Pastor preaching on January 27, 2018
Pastor: The Greek word for “parakletos” means counselor instead of comforter like the King James translators translated it in John 14:16 and John 14:26.
John 14:16 (KJV) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:26 (KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
In effect this pastor has changed the King James Bible into a NIV. The NIV has counselor instead of comforter. This pastor does not like what the King James Bible says in English. Therefore, he goes to the greek to re-translate the King James Bible the way he wants it to read. He wants John 14:16 and John 14:26 to read like the NIV.
(John 14:16 NIV) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever–
(John 14:26 NIV) But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Pastor preaching on December 29, 2018
Pastor: This has been a rough year, especially for funerals, but God has provided us with the comforter, the Holy Spirit of God to comfort us in our time of grief.
So, it looks like the King James Bible translators were right all along for translating the Greek word for “parakletos” as comforter instead of counselor in John 14.
