The NIV and other new versions attack the doctrines of the virgin birth of Christ and the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. The new versions do this by changing “Joseph” to father in Luke 2:33. If Jesus Christ has a human father then he is not the Son of God, but is a mere human like the rest of us. If Jesus Christ had a human father, then Jesus Christ inherited the sin nature from his human father and is no longer qualified to be the sinless sacrifice for our sins. If Jesus Christ is just a man, then his payment for our sin on the cross at Calvary is meaningless and worthless. My sin is so great that I need God manifest in the flesh to die for my sin. I need the Son of God to come to this earth in the virgin birth and pay for my sins on a cross at Calvary. Now let’s compare the new versions in Luke 2:33 to the King James Bible.
Luke 2:33 (KJV) And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
(Luke 2:33 NIV) The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him.
(Luke 2:33 ESV) And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him.
(Luke 2:33 NASV) And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him.
(Luke 2:33 RSV) And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him;
(Luke 2:33 NKJV) And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.
The New King James Version has a footnote that changes “Joseph and His mother” to “And His father and mother”. With the footnote the New King James Version agrees with the other new versions.
The New King James Version is the marijuana version. Marijuana is a gateway drug to harder and harder drugs like heroin and meth. The New King James Version is a gateway version to more and more perverted versions. The New King James Version does not change the text. The New King James Version uses a footnote to cast doubt on the text. The next new version that the unsuspecting Christian will buy will change the text. This way the change comes gradually and is subtle.
The New Testament is completely worthless and of no value without a sinless, virgin born Saviour that is the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. The new versions change who Jesus Christ is and make the sinless, virgin born Saviour just another sinful man. Below we will examine the reason for the difference between the King James Bible and the new versions in Luke 2:33.
